3

Anne’s view of Bordeaux, and the restaurant nearby, in La Bastide (meaning a fortified town from Medieval times), the former industrial district of Bordeaux.

Darwin Ecosystem fuses work, art, sport, food, shops, performance, and play. It provides space for hundreds of start ups, offer delicious food in the largest organic restaurant in France, offers desirable studio space for artists, and brings the community together. The site sits on an 8.6-acre former military base—1874 until 2004—that was abandoned. It’s transformation, with the fitting slogan “able to adapt,” is inspiring and has transformed Le Bastide. And why Darwin?
